The Oreck Corporation was founded by the long term RCA sales representative David Oreck in 1963. David Oreck has always had an interest in mechanical invention, and his stint with RCA gave him the technical inspiration he needed to begin the manufacture of his own line of vacuum cleaners.

The company initially focused on supplying the hotel industry with lightweight, powerful, durable vacuum cleaners that could reliably meet the high demands of constant use.

The Oreck XL classic saw a very wide early distribution, and is presently used in over 50,000 establishments worldwide.

With such an impressive level of commercial success, Oreck expanded to the household market with a bullheaded television advertising campaign. Oreck proved successful, and now offers four versions of their classic Oreck XL upright vacuum cleaner.

The line of Oreck vacuums are priced from the original classic for $300, all the way up to the premiere titanium series with a price tag of $750.

Since Oreck also develops air filtration systems, it applies its air filtration technology in all of it’s upright vacuums. While the Classic Oreck XL only comes equipped with basic filtration, the deluxe and ultra models both come standard with hypo-allergenic built in filtration systems.

The premiere Titanium Series comes standard with a HEPA-Celoc hypo-allergenic filtration system, and represents the top of the line of Oreck vacuum cleaners.

All Oreck vacuums are powered by Oreck’s own 24 bar motor technology. It is this motor that is touted to give Oreck vacuums their superior vacuum strength.

As far as vacuuming power and reliability is concerned, Oreck has a relatively wide customer base that seems to be pleased.
