They still use the brand name Eureka on their product. The brand of Eureka is a part of Electrolux, which is not only global but the biggest producer of appliances to take care of floors.

It was Fred Wardell of Detroit, Michigan who in 1909 founded the Eureka Company. Six models of Eureka cleaners were made in 1913. These cleaners also had attachments. Then in 1915, the San Francisco International Exposition gave Eureka the Grand Prize for having such a great product.

By 1927 one third of the vacuum cleaners sold in the USA were made by Eureka. Then in 1930, Eureka started making the electric ranges. In 1941, Eureka decided to quit making commercial models of vacuums.

During 1942 Eureka turned to producing products that would help support the war effort in WWII. This production included such things as gas masks. In 1945, Eureka changed their name to Eureka-Williams. This was due to the fact that Williams Oil-O-Matic and Eureka merged. Also in 1945, the U.S. Navy awarded the company the prestigious E award.

In 1949, the Wooden Lung was made by Eureka and helped in the fight against polio and infantile paralysis. In 1957, the company started focusing on just products for household floor care. In 1968, a thermal battery was manufactured by Eureka-Williams for NASA.

In 1974, the Swedish company AB Electrolux bought Eureka-Williams. The company’s name was changed to The Eureka Company. In 1981, Eureka started making parts in a plant located in Juarez, Mexico. Then in 1984 in a plant in El Paso, Texas Eureka began manufacturing vacuum cleaners.

In 2003, the Electrolux brand of products for floor care starts being offered by Eureka. Eureka changes its name in 2004 to Electrolux Home Care Products North America and remains that today.
