Vacuum Cleaner Ratings and Reviews

The Vacuum Cleaner and Its Beginnings

A vacuum is an electrical cleaning tool use to clean the façade or any outer part of things like floors, upholstery and window coverings by sucking dust and dirt. The collection of the dirt and other material is done by a straining system into a bag.  It gives the homes that much needed appearance of being spick and span.

A home without this tool is unimaginable, but mind you, just like any other gadgets which saves time and for less effort, its extensive utilization started a way over the 19th century.  It started with the invention of Ives W. McGaffey called “Whirlwind”.  It was the first invented cleaner operated by human effort but using the vacuum principles.  Aside from the McGaffey there were other inventors of manual vacuum cleaners.  In later years the vacuum cleaner evolved until recently there are added features and powered by electricity.

Configurations

Vacuum cleaners come in different designs and shapes and sizes. In fact there is a vast amount of vacuum cleaners in the marketplace.  There is the upright vacuum cleaner in which the pump is set up straight over the suction intake, and the bag is positioned on the handle which goes up to above waist height.  The canister design includes the motor and the bag in a separate cylinder component (normally with wheels) connected to the vacuum head by a flexible hose.  The wet vacs or wet/dry vacs like hand held vacuums can handle wet and dry.  Back-pack vacuums are used for commercial cleaning while built-in or central vacuum cleaners are for big buildings where the suction motor and bag are transferred to a central location in the building and supply vacuum inlets to key places all over the building.  The robotic vacuum cleaners, the latest to come work on its own and i are battery operated.  There are also small hand-held vacs, either battery operated or electric.  Good for cleaning up smaller spills.  They are light-weight and uses rechargeable batteries.  Then there are the drum vacuums mostly for industrial applications.  All of these come with various specialized attachments like tools, brushes, and extension wands for needed reach and for cleaning different surfaces.

Features and Facets

Most vacuum cleaners have their usual attachments.  The attachments vary from and depend on the kind/type of vacuum cleaners.  Generally though the attachments include crevice and upholstery tools, extension wands for reaching high places and a full-bag alarm.  But some uprights feature a bagless configuration but instead a see-through dirt bin replaces the usual bag.  Revolving brushes on some help in the removal of surface debris from carpet.

The canister designed vacs have a power nozzle that cleans thoroughly compared to simple suction nozzle.  In some canisters and upright vacs a suction-control feature is found.  This allows airflow reduction for drapes and other delicate fabrics.  Most canisters and few uprights have retractable cord which does not need manual rewinding but with just a push of a button.  Accessory kits for central vacs normally include an electrically powered cleaning head.

A sound deafening muffler comes on some central vac models.  Dirt sensors also equally important as they give out warning on a certain level reached of dirt particles.  While microfiltration attempts to capture fine particles that may pass through the bag and escape into the air through the exhaust.  Some vacs have HEPA Filter which might be good for asthma sufferers.

The Good Vacuum Cleaners

There is no one good vacuum cleaner in its totality.  Different features and designs vary for different uses.  There are features which user might find helpful and good.  There some features on the other hand which users find annoying.  The best probably is dependent on the purpose and where the vacuum cleaners would be used.  It all depends on individual needs.  Consider what features you think are best for your usage and there is the price to think about too.
